The first silver threepence coins were issued in the middle of 16th Century under King Edward VI. The last silver threepences were released in 1944 under King George VI. The consignment of coins thathad already been produced for 1945 was almost entirely melted down. The obverse shows a left-facing effigy of King George while the reverse features a large reproduction of the coin's nominal value together with a crown.
Minted between 1920 and 1927, this original threepence coin is almost 80 years old. Made of finest silver it features a portrait of King George V, who ruled the UnitedKingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and was Emperor of India from 1910 until his death in 1936.
