At the request of King James I the Christian Holy Bible was translated from the original languages of Hebrew, Latin and Greek, by 47 of the best biblical scholars of the day. The King James Bible translation was begun in 1604 and was completed in 1611. James gave the translators instructions intended to guarantee that the new version would conform to the ecclesiology and reflect the Episcopal structure of the Church of England and its beliefs about an ordained clergy. This translation became the Bible read by all English-speaking nations.
