The 1933 Gold Double Eagle coin features Lady Liberty, torch in one hand, and an olive branch in the other.
The reverse depicts an eagle flying towards the sun's rays. These coins were only struck for a short period of time before the government determined gold would no longer be legal tender in an effort to stabilize the 1930's bank crisis. Although the majority of these coins were melted down, a very small number of them were stolen, accounting for their extreme rarity today.
