This faithful replica of an original 1933 Gold Double Eagle coin features Lady Liberty, torch in one hand, and an olive branch in the other. The reverse depicts an eagle flying towards the sun's rays. The original coins were only struck for a short period of time before the government determined, in an effort to stabilize the 30's bank crisis, that gold would no longer be legal tender. Although the majority of the original coins were melted down, a very small number of them survived, accounting for their extreme rarity today.
This '1933 Gold Double Eagle' replica archival strike has been minted to the highest quality 'proof' standard and plated in pure gold. It comes presented in our Archival Case so you can protect it, and keep it in mint condition for generations to come.
