Ireland was involved in the idea of the Euro from the beginning. The Irish Euro coins, on which the name of the country is rendered as "Eire", were minted in Dublin-Sandyford. The beautiful, unifying motif on all values of coin comes from Jarlath Hayes and emphasizes its Celtic heritage. It depicts a traditional harp, just as it has been used as a symbol on Irish coins since 1534.
